October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Dads, your daughters are watching you. They are learning what love looks like by the way you treat the women in your life, especially their mother.
Even if you are divorced, separated, or no longer together, how you treat their mom matters.
You don’t have to be in love with her anymore to show her kindness, compassion, and respect.
Don’t belittle her, threaten her, call her names, or speak badly about her in front of your children. Don’t use your children as weapons when a relationship ends.
Instead, show them that disagreements can be handled without anger, intimidation, or cruelty.
Your daughter should grow up knowing that love doesn’t hurt, control, humiliate, or frighten.
She should never believe that walking on eggshells, being disrespected, or living in fear is a normal part of a relationship.
And your sons are watching, too. Teach them that being a strong man doesn’t mean having power over someone. It means showing patience, kindness, accountability, and respect.
Fathers have an incredible opportunity to help break the cycle of domestic violence by modeling healthy relationships.
Of course, even children raised in loving homes can experience abuse later in life. Abuse is always the responsibility of the person choosing to be abusive.
But the example you set today can help your children recognize unhealthy behavior, establish boundaries, and understand what they deserve.
Dads, one of the greatest gifts you can give your daughter is showing her how a woman deserves to be treated, even when a relationship doesn’t work out.
Be the father who teaches his daughter to expect respect and his son to give it.
Because our children deserve to grow up knowing that love should feel safe.
Let’s raise a generation that knows the difference between love and control.
And to moms if you are being abused find a plan get out as your daughter is more likely to be with an abuser if you are.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Let’s work together to break the cycle.
