I hate pills and medication in general. You take something for one thing and then you have to worry about side effects , addiction wasting money on things that don’t work or you have a bad reaction to.
Living with joint pain has many challenges, what works often doctors don’t want to give and yet they want you to be a guinea pig for other stuff.
I went to a physical medicine doctor for my chronic pain due to a bilateral pats fracture in my spine years ago that caused my spine to slip.
So the Spondylolysis from who knows when became Spondylolisthesis when I was officially diagnosed with that in 2010- add Osteonecrosis from a torn medial meniscus injury and Osteoarthritis since I was 32ish and somedays I can hurt from head to toe.
Thankfully this Doctor suggested a compound pharmacy but advised insurance won’t cover it. But I wanted to try it
So today I just got my prescription and plan on trying it after my shower. It’s a pain rub that has all kinds of cool stuff in it. So I am hoping it will work.
So what is a compound pharmacy you ask? And why doesn’t insurance cover anything?
A compound pharmacy is a specialized pharmacy that creates customized medications for patients based on their unique needs. The importance of a compound pharmacy lies in the fact that it can provide medications that are not available commercially, or that may not be suitable for a patient due to allergies or other medical conditions. Compound pharmacies can also create medications in different forms, such as creams, gels, or liquids, which may be more suitable for some patients.
However, the cost of medications from a compound pharmacy can be significantly higher than commercially available medications. This is because the medications are customized and require specialized equipment and expertise to create.
Health insurance companies should cover some of the cost of medications from a compound pharmacy to ensure that patients have access to the medications they need. This can improve patient outcomes and reduce the overall cost of healthcare by preventing complications and hospitalizations.
By covering some of the cost of medications from a compound pharmacy, health insurance companies can help ensure that patients receive the best possible care and treatment for their medical conditions. It is important for insurance companies to consider the needs of individual patients when making coverage decisions, rather than relying on a selective list of approved medications.
In conclusion, compound pharmacies play such a vital role in providing customized medications to people that have unique medical needs. Health insurance companies should cover some of the cost of these medications from a compound pharmacy to ensure that people have access to the medications they need and to improve their outcomes.
I will let you know how it goes next week…. Going to give it 7 days to see how it helps
