“To the artists who are choosing to pull out of the America’s 250th birthday celebration, including those who have been reported as withdrawing from the event, I have to say I’m disappointed. This event is about celebrating 250 years of American history, not about supporting or opposing any particular president, political party, or administration.
Millions of fans across this country have bought your music, attended your concerts, and supported your careers for years. Those fans are Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and people who don’t affiliate with any political party at all. They come from different backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life, yet they have continued to support your careers because they enjoy your music and respect your talent.
By stepping away from a celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday, it feels as though politics is being placed above the people who helped make your success possible. America is bigger than any one politician, political party, or administration. This anniversary is about our history, our freedoms, our accomplishments, and the generations of Americans who sacrificed and worked to build this nation.
While every artist has the right to make their own decisions, fans also have the right to feel disappointed. Many of us simply wanted to see Americans come together to celebrate 250 years of our country. At a time when our nation is so divided, this could have been an opportunity to focus on what unites us rather than what separates us.
You may not agree with every elected official, and your fans may not either, but America belongs to all of us. Celebrating 250 years of our nation’s history should be about honoring the country and its people—not about politics.
To those who don’t attend , you will lose many fans.
And many of you are has bins anyway.
I hope others I’ll step up !’
