Which Animal Would You Compare Yourself To — and Why?
If I had to choose an animal that reflects who I am, I would choose the hedgehog.
The hedgehog may be small, but it is incredibly aware of its surroundings and knows how to defend itself when necessary. In many ways, its traits feel very similar to my own.
Hedgehogs are observers. They pay attention before they act. They rely on strategy rather than strength. Living with osteoarthritis has taught me to do the same. I don’t always have the physical strength I once had, so I have learned to think differently, plan ahead, and use strategy to navigate life’s challenges.
When danger appears, a hedgehog protects itself quickly. It doesn’t attack without reason, but it knows how to guard itself when it needs to. I relate to that deeply.
Like the hedgehog, I’ve also had to become an adaptable survivor. Life doesn’t always go the way we expect, and sometimes we have to adjust, learn, and keep moving forward in new ways.
A hedgehog may not look intimidating, and people might underestimate it at first glance. But that would be a mistake. Beneath that small exterior is a creature that knows exactly how to protect itself and survive.
And in many ways, I feel the same way.
So don’t underestimate the hedgehog… or the person who relates to it. You might be surprised.
