Protecting Our Seniors, Disabled : Prioritize Social Security Over Foreign Aid

In a world where financial resources are often stretched to cover various needs, it’s essential reexamine our priorities. The looming Social Security crisis projected for 2035 demands immediate attention and action. It’s time to shift focus away from providing aid to other countries and redirect those resources towards securing the financial well-being of our seniors who have diligently contributed to this system throughout their working lives.

Reflecting on the past, the disparity between the wages earned in previous decades compared to today is stark. Many retirees today worked for meager wages as children, without the benefit of programs like the 401(k) that have become more common in recent years. Their contributions to Social Security were meant to provide a safety net for their retirement years, not push them into poverty.

It’s disheartening to see hard-working individuals living on minimal Social Security benefits, struggling to make ends meet and facing challenges accessing affordable healthcare. Meanwhile, some individuals receive welfare without ever having contributed through work. This imbalance is unjust and calls for a reevaluation of our societal priorities.

Seniors relying on Social Security should not have to live in poverty or choose between basic necessities. It is imperative that we advocate for fair and sufficient support for those who have dedicated their lives to building our society. Elected officials must take a stand and prioritize the financial security of our seniors over external aid. It’s time for America to wake up and ensure that our retirees and disabled citizens are provided with the dignity and support they deserve.
